News via the Internet.
Pros and cons

Mass media enjoys a very prominent role in our lives. It is the only medium that keeps us informed and connected to the outside world. However, a medium this large is sure to influence society at large. The influences can be either positive or negative depending on several factors.

Mass media can be categorized into broadcast media, print media, outdoor media, and digital media. Broadcast media comprises radio, television, recorded music, and films, and transmits information in electronic forms. Print media, as the name suggests, is a form of printed physical media which includes newspapers, books, magazines, pamphlets, and comics. The third one―outdoor media―consists of signs, billboards, and placards used in several places to spread a common message. Digital media includes Internet services like blogs, emails, websites, etc. It also includes mobile phone technology.

LITTEACHER8 eNotes educator| CERTIFIED EDUCATOR

One advantage is that internet news is cheap and widely dispersed. A disadvantage is that there are no standards. Anyone can write a blog, start a rumor without investigation, and cause a sensation that will be picked up and spread like wildfire. Often the originally legitimate news organizations will take it up without doing their own research. However, in the day when everyone has a camera and a cell phone, the chance of catching a story when it happens is also greatly increased. In a way, everyone has the chance to be a reporter. This is a good and bad thing for the populace.

Task 3. You are going to give a talk about the Internet. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10-12 sentences).
Remember to say:
·         why today’s teenagers use the Internet so much
·         how the Internet makes long-distance communication easier
·         what dangers teenagers can face when they use the Internet

You have to talk continuously.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

"Extraordinary Merry Christmas"

It came into my dreams last night
A great, big man in red and white.
He told me that it’s gonna be
A special year for you and me.
Underneath the mistletoe
Hold me tight and kiss me slow.
The snow is high so come inside
I wanna hear you say to me!

It’s a very, very, merry, merry christmas.
Gonna party on ’til Santa grants my wishes.
Got my halo on I know what I want
It’s who I’m with.
It’s an extraordinary merry christmas!

It doesn’t come as a surprise
Who’s been naughty, who’s been nice.
There’s someone here for everyone
Another year has just begun.
Silent night, not inside
Slaybells ring until the light
Hearts explode, here we go
It’s all like they’re inside your eyes!

It’s a very, very, merry, merry christmas.
Gonna party on ’til Santa grants my wishes.
Got my halo on I know what I want
It’s who I’m with.
It’s an extraordinary merry christmas!

Won’t you meet me by the tree?
Slip away so secretly.
Can’t you see how this could be?
The greatest gift of all!
It’s a very, very, merry, merry christmas.
Gonna stay with you ’til Santa grants my wishes.
Got my halo on I know what I want

Last Christmas
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance
But you still catch my eye
Tell me, baby
Do you recognize me?
Well, it's been a year
It doesn't surprise me
(Merry Christmas!) I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying, "I love you, " I meant it
Now, I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now
I know you'd fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas,, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you, and your soul of ice
My god, I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore me apart
Now, I've found a real love you'll never fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore him apart
Maybe next year I'll give it to someone
I'll give it to someone special

Ain't
Итак, на сегодняшний день слово «ain’t» нередко заменяет собой сокращения «am not, is not, are not, have not, has not», а в некоторых диалектах и «don’t,doesn’t, didn’t».
Интересно, что сокращённая форма «are + not = aren’t» появилась позже, в 1675 году. В итоге, получился «an’t», а местами даже «a’n’t».
Теперь про «did + not = ain’t».
Зато в «хвостатых» вопросах официально закрепилось: «I’m OK, aren’t I?».
− ты ничего не видел, «If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!»
